How to unfix politics?

S2oP started as two friends, meeting for lunch, shooting the breeze, and talking about the world. Our conversations would naturally gravitate to one of these fundamental issues in our country, and over the course of a nice meal, with a bunch of argu… sharing of opinions, we would come to a basic solution that both sides could agree on as a realistic starting place from which to move forward on the issue. We would go back to our jobs, until we could grab another bite together. After half a dozen such episodes, we started pulling in other opinions and research, realizing that it didn’t do any good to solve America's problems if we didn’t tell anybody. Hence, this website.

It ultimately doesn’t matter who we are. It’s not about us. We’re just sick of the fussing and fighting. It is safe to say that we have thought about these issues a lot. We bet that you have, too.

As you look at these solutions, it will be too easy to dismiss anything and everything that doesn’t fit with what you’ve already decided that you will find acceptable. It is too easy to look at these solutions and say, that they are overly simplistic, or, “That will never happen ” – but the main impediment to changing our circumstances is not thinking that change is possible. Be willing to adjust your thinking, and consider that a simple solution is easier to implement, to understand, and to correct along the way. Some of these changes are so massive (see the Taxes page), that there is no way to anticipate all of the repercussions in some of the other areas. All of these solutions are starting points, not end points.

Our hope is that these ideas spread and that, as a nation, we start putting actual solutions in place. Our purpose is to erase the excuse of not knowing what to do, and to have succinct answers all together in one coherent place.
