Cookie Policy
Last Updated: 12/26/24
This Cookie Policy explains that we don’t use cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our website. It explains what these technologies are, why we (don’t) use them, and your rights to control their use.
What Are Cookies?
We don’t really know, but some say that cookies are small data files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide reporting information.
Types of Cookies We Use
We don’t use the following types of cookies on our Website (mostly…see, Essential Cookies):
Essential Cookies: These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly and cannot be switched off in our systems. If they are here, it’s part of the Hugo theme that we use, so talk to Hugo.
Performance Cookies: These cookies would help us understand how visitors interact with our Website by collecting information anonymously, but we don’t really care, so we don’t use them. Well, …I’m sure Google Analytics or someone similar tracks such things, and we can get website traffic data, like which pages get looked at, but that’s it.
Functional Cookies: These cookies would enable the Website to provide enhanced functionality and personalization, but again, we don’t care about that stuff, so there’s no point.
Targeting/Advertising Cookies: These cookies would track your browsing habits to deliver targeted advertising. Frankly, these creep us out, and we don’t recommend them at all (nor do we use them).
Why Don’t We Use Cookies?
Really, who has the time?
Third-Party Cookies
We don’t use them, but some cookies may be set by third parties, such as analytics or advertising providers. These third-party cookies allow them to collect data about your interaction with our Website. We can’t really say what’s going on with your particular browser configuration, or whatever, but if there is some third-party cookie shenanigans going on for you, it has nothing to do with us. We don’t have any third-party affiliations or agreements, nor are we interested in them. We’re not selling anything, nor do we want to. You can’t donate, or join, or get on a mailing list. Nothing. Just free information (and opinion).
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have the right to accept or reject non-essential cookies, but you don’t need to, because we don’t use any non-essential cookies You can manage your cookie preferences through:
• Not coming here. We didn’t give you a “cookie consent” banner on your first visit because, ironically, that would have required us to use cookies.
• Your browser settings (e.g., blocking or deleting cookies).
Your Rights
Under applicable privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA:
• You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, but you don’t need to, because we haven’t requested it in the first place, because we aren’t doing the things that would requre consent.
• If you are a California resident, you don’t need to opt out of the sale of your personal data via the “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” link on our Website, because we don’t collect or sell any of it in the first place.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or our practices. Please revisit this page periodically for updates.
Contact Us
If you have questions about this Cookie Policy, we are considering instituting a Contact Form, but have many reservations. Stay tuned.
